Listening and Apologizing
Listening and apologizing are currently all the vogue with the political fraternity.
That’s because politicians have spotted that the tiny little minds of the public respond very favourably to being told that important people might actually be interested in listening to their views/opinions. It makes them feel good. More importantly, it makes them feel bad about continuing to ask awkward questions or turning nasty when their views/opinions are subsequently ignored. So they don’t.
Same with apologizing. Politicians have spotted the public feel good about forgiving politicians who offers them an ever-so-humble apology. The more abject the apology the more crass the public will feel it to be to continue questioning/heckling politicians about their latest £billion pound gaffs.
Truth is, if politicians spent less time listening/apologizing and more time properly managing our economy we’d all be far better off.
